Procedure to Determine the Performance Requirements for Radio Systems Applied to Radio-based Train Control Systems (IEC/TS 62773)
The introduction of radio-based train control systems are considered in many countries because of simplification of equipment on the ground. However, train control systems have a great variety all over the world, and there is a need for the procedure to appropriately determine the performance requirements for radio system in order for railway operators to introduce the appropriate system, consistent with their specific business needs.

This Technical Specification organizes the relationship between requirements of the rail transport authority (preconditions) and performance requirements (radio parameters) into a matrix chart.
The Technical Specification enables the rail transport authorities to introduce systems with a certain level of quality and to avoid excessive investment. It also enables the suppliers to build systems with necessary and sufficient specification. Because this Technical Specification proposed by Japan covers every radio system of all radio-based train control systems including European Train Control System (ETCS), and Communications-Based Train Control (CBTC) systems, it is expected to be utilized all over the world.
