IEC 1906 Award
To commemorate the 100th anniversary of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC)'s foundation in 1906, the IEC 1906 Award was instituted as a way of individually honoring technical experts engaged in IEC technical activities for their outstanding contributions to and achievements in the standardization of electrical technology and related activities. Specifically, the IEC Executive Committee (IEC/ExCo) proposed the establishment of this award system in 2003, leading to its implementation for the first time in 2004.

The following people were commended in Japan in recognition of achievements in the international standardization of railway systems.
