Mr. Tanaka has many important positions including the chairman and Japanese delegate of the Japanese National Committee for ISO/TC 269 (railway application) and IEC/TC 9 (electrical equipment and systems for railways), and has played a leading role in international standardization activities for railways.
Where European countries showed their presence, he contributed to the adoption of a total of seven New Work Item Proposals proposed by Japan, and to formulation of the rules for revision procedures of IEC standards based on EN. In Japan and overseas, he also contributed to dissemination and enlightenment activities of international standards for railways, achieving further development of the Japanese railway industry.
