Recipient Company Achievements
Kinichi Sato Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Ltd. For six years, Mr. Sato has contributed to formulating Automated Urban Guided Transport (AUGT) standards for IEC/TC 9 as a member of the Japanese mirror working group, preparing Japanese drafts and comments on other countries’ proposals, in particular using his experience as a railway operator and position as an expert in train protection.

He has also proactively contributed to converting AUGT standards to JIS and revising JIS E 4001 "Railway rolling stock - Vocabulary" as a member of the JIS drafting committee.
Kazunori Dei Mitsubishi Electric Corporation As an international expert of standards on rotating electric machines for railway rolling stock, Mr. Dei has contributed to leading the deliberations on these standards and having Japanese drafts included in international draft standards for two years.

He has also acted as a member of the Japanese mirror working group for standards on LIM (short-primary type Linear Induction Motors) proposed by Japan for five years, contributing proactively to the establishment of these standards.

For ten years, he also proactively contributed to formulation and revising various JIS on rotating electrical machines for railway rolling stock.
Yutaka Hasegawa Japan Railway Electrical Engineering Association For nine years, Mr. Hasegawa has proactively contributed to formulation of Japanese drafts and counter policies as a member of various Japanese mirror working groups of IEC/TC 9 for train control systems.

He participated in the Japanese preparatory working group for international standards on radio-based train control systems, making efforts in drafting the standards submitted from Japan. He contributed to decisions regarding the initiation of standardizing radio-based train control systems in IEC/TC 9.

For six years, he has also proactively contributed to formulation and revising various JIS on railway signalling.
Hajime Yamamoto Toshiba Corporation As an international expert of standards on capacitors for power electronics (aluminium electrolytic capacitors and electric double-layer capacitors) of IEC/TC 9, Mr. Yamamoto has contributed to proposals for Japanese style systems and preparing draft standards for two years.

For four years, he also proactively contributed to coordinating domestic opinions and drawing up draft standards.

Makoto Yagi The Nippon Signal Co., Ltd. For six years, Mr. Yagi has participated in the Japanese preparatory working group for international standards on radio-based train control systems and has made efforts in preparing draft standards proposed by Japan.

He contributed to decisions regarding the initiation of standardizing radio-based train control systems in IEC/TC 9.

He is participating in the Japanese mirror working group of IEC/TC 9 for Urban Guided Transport Management and command/control System (UGTMS) and he is expected to contribute furthermore.
Akihiro Yamanaka West Japan Railway Company For five years, Mr. Yamanaka has participated in the Japanese mirror working groups for "Rotating electrical machines for rail and road vehicles" standards and "Traction transformers and inductors on board rolling stock" standards.

He contributed to the deliberation of the standards and provided comments through his experience as a railway operator.

He has also contributed to revising JIS E 5008 "Rolling stock - Power convertors installed on board rolling stock" as a member of the JIS drafting committee and he is expected to contribute furthermore.
JIS :  Japanese Industrial Standards (national standards based on Japan's Industrial Standardization Act)
IEC :  International Electrotechnical Commission (a body formulating various international standards related to the electrical and electronic fields)
TC9 :  Technical Committee 9 (an expert committee on electrical equipment and related systems for railway application)
